ARCADIA, FL – September 4, 2008 – U.S. Representative Allen Boyd (FL-2) and Christine Jennings, Democratic candidate for Florida’s 13th Congressional District, met this evening with voters, elected officials and candidates at a “meet and greet” campaign stop in Arcadia.  

“I have no doubt that Christine Jennings will do a remarkable job as the next Member of Congress from Florida’s 13th District,” said Rep. Boyd. “She understands what it will take to solve the challenges our state and our country face, and will bring honesty, integrity and her 40 years of banking experience to Washington. Christine will be a strong partner in advocating for rural interests and fiscal responsibility, and I am proud to offer my support.” 

Rep. Allen Boyd has represented Florida’s 2nd Congressional District since 1997. The 2nd Congressional District, in North Florida, spans 16 counties and includes both rural areas and Tallahassee. Rep. Boyd, a fifth-generation farmer and small business owner, has been a leader for agricultural and rural interests during his time in Congress. He serves on both the House Budget Committee and the House Appropriations Committee. Boyd is also a leader of Congress’ Democratic Blue Dog Coalition, a group of Democratic representatives who are leading advocates for fiscal responsibility in Congress. The Blue Dog Coalition has endorsed Jennings.
