Web Site Will Chronicle Buchanan’s Questionable Business Practices and Behavior
SARASOTA, FL – August 22, 2008 – The Christine Jennings for Congress campaign today launched BootBuchanan.com, a new Web site that will give voters the information they need to hold Congressman Vern Buchanan accountable for his actions. The Web site will serve as an online clearinghouse for factual news reports and information regarding Buchanan and his businesses.
The site will be frequently updated with news clips and television reports on issues facing Buchanan. Currently, the site has links to stories from local and national media, both print and television, chronicling the issues Buchanan has faced in the wake of lawsuits filed by former employees, alleging systematic consumer fraud at his auto dealerships and significant campaign finance violations. Earlier this week, the Associated Press reported that CREW, a governmental ethics watchdog group, filed a FEC complaint against Buchanan for pressuring employees at his auto dealerships to contribute to his 2006 campaign.
The site also links to a new American News Project video story detailing the “remarkable number of former employees and customers” suing Buchanan. The American News Project report says that, “so far, seven separate legal complaints have been filed against Buchanan, accusing him of flouting campaign finance laws [and] defrauding banks and customers,” among other allegations.
