Former Bradenton Mayor Bill Evers Endorses Christine Jennings for Congress
SARASOTA, FL – April 27, 2008 – Christine Jennings, Democratic candidate for Florida’s 13th Congressional District, announced today the endorsement of Bill Evers, former Republican mayor of Bradenton. Jennings also announced that Danny Molter, Evers’ former campaign manager, will join the campaign as an advisor.
“Christine Jennings understands the needs of the working families of Bradenton, Manatee County and the 13th Congressional District,” said Evers. “She’ll work hard to address the challenges our country faces and will be a voice of accountability and fiscal discipline. I know Christine, and I know we can trust her to fight for the issues that matter the most to our communities,” he continued.
“I am extremely pleased to be working with Christine and her team, and I’m impressed at the wide range of support she has throughout District – from Democrats, independents and Republicans alike,” added Molter. “By sending a responsible voice in Christine Jennings to the United States Congress, Manatee County voters will play a crucial role in creating the change we need.”
The involvement of Evers and Molter adds to the already strong support for Jennings in Manatee County. Businessman Ed Chiles, Manatee County resident and son of former Governor Lawton Chiles, serves as the treasurer of the Jennings campaign.
“I am proud and humbled to have the support of Mayor Evers and Danny Molter, and look forward to working with them as we continue our campaign to bring real solutions to the 13th Congressional District,” said Jennings.
